Section 4:

You’d like to make some new friends. Maybe you’re at a new school or job, or, possibly, you have changed and the “new you” wants to meet new people. First, I strongly advise you to turn off the TV. Those people on Friends are not YOUR friends. You need to go out with real people. Decide right now not to refuse invitations. When a classmate or co-worker invites you for coffee, just say “Yes.” Join a club and volunteer to do something. That responsibility will force you to attend the meetings. By doing these things, you will manage to meet a lot of new people. But don’t rush to become close friends with someone right away. Learn to listen. Encourage the person to talk by asking questions. Allow relationships to develop naturally, and soon you’ll have a group of people you’re really comfortable with.
