Unit 28: Gerunds after Prepositions (pages 324-332)

Section: After You Read

Items Checked: 1, 2, 4, 6, 7

Section 1:

To President Hacking:

We are concerned about improving Internet access at Taylor College. Times are changing. With Wi-Fi (for Wireless Fidelity or a wireless Internet connection), students can get on the Internet anywhere on campus. Many schools have succeeded in making their campuses completely wireless. Taylor College has been slow at developing this technology, but it is becoming more necessary. Taylor College instructors are putting more and more course material online. With only a few Wi-Fi areas, busy students cannot count on finding a place to connect when they have the time to work on course material. By having more Wi-Fi areas, the college will make education more efficient. We are asking the administration to consider increasing the number of “hotspots” for wireless connections. We look forward to having a completely wireless campus in the next few years.

I’m a new student and I’m not used to living on a coming college campus. Before to coming here, I lived at home and had a lot of friends. I’m very happy about being here, but I’m getting sick of spending all my time alone in the 1ibrary. I’m really interested in meeting more people. Would it be possible to have more social events on campus- especially for new students? I’m planning on a joining some clubs too. Is there a list? I’m looking forward to hearing your response. Thank you for to giving us the opportunity to make suggestions online!
